This spring I am thrilled to be in NYC, working with some diverse subjects, with various writers!
The pleasure of directing a new work is only equal to helping shape that work, into something vibrant & alive!
First up is new musical like nothing I’ve ever worked on before...
With a cast lead by Mario Cantone & Rob Bartlett, DIG LENNY BRUCE, written by Walter Marks, explores how the infamous comic finds his “Lenny”, defends his “Lenny”, and ultimately loses his “Lenny”!
This dark-edged musical presented as a reading in NYC, will also see a workshop premiere, this fall, at Bay Street Theatre - Sag Harbor.
Next, I do a complete 180 - with the new romantic musical comedy AMBER STREET.
Set in the early 1980’s - the story finds star-crossed lovers, ROSA & JACK dealing with parents who may not be as color-blind a they are.
Written by Bob Larimer and Hal Shaefer, AMBER ST boast a jazz score. Which, for the characters in the play, is a darn good thing. For their love of J.A.Z.Z. is the tie that binds!
A super talented cast includes Brianna Horne, Richard Blake, Ben Harney, Cheryl Alexander, Michael Rupert, Dwayne Clark, and more TBA.
In the Music Director’s chair, and hot on the keys, is Jason Michael Webb.
If you have never heard of the O’Neill National Musical Theatre Conference - “RUN DON’T WALK!” I am thrilled to be returning to direct a new musical. Visit the website. They are doing extraordinary things: www.theoneill.org
As it reads on their site…
